Ovid is pleased to announce an addition to its family of Evidence Based Medicine (EBM) Reviews databases: the Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effectiveness (DARE). DARE is the third component of Ovid's growing Evidence Based Medicine Reviews collection, which also includes Best Evidence and the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews. DARE is a full text database containing critical assessments of systematic reviews from a variety of medical journals.
DARE is produced by the expert reviewers and information staff of the National Health Services' Centre for Reviews and Dissemination (NHS CRD) at the University of York, England, and consists of structured abstracts of systematic reviews from all over the world. DARE records cover topics such as diagnosis, prevention, rehabilitation, screening, and treatment.
In addition, DARE records are included in three Medline limits: EBM Reviews, All Article Reviews (DARE and Best Evidence) , and Article Reviews (DARE). This means a searcher may start a search in Medline, restrict using one of these three limits, and then link to fulltext DARE records from the resulting set.
All customers who currently have access to the MEDLINE and EBMR databases automatically gain access to DARE at no additional charge. The addition of DARE enhances the MEDLINE limits in the following ways.
Links exist from DARE to Ovid Full Text—Move from source article references in a DARE review to the corresponding Ovid Full Text document, facilitating seamless exploration of the evidence in the primary source.
